The 'Run-Away' Cart
About one year ago, I began my usual routine of going to the grocery store with my two sons, Kai (then 1 year old)
and River (then 2 years old). I unloaded Kai from his car seat and placed him in the double-seated grocery cart. I
then began to unbuckle River from his car seat when I heard a man yell, "Hey lady...your baby!" I looked up to
witness my son Kai rolling into traffic and striking a car waiting for a parking spot! I was extremely frightened,
embarrassed and so thankful that he wasn't hit by a car or that the cart didn't tip over. As soon as I got home, I
immediately told my husband about the ordeal and began to search everywhere for a product that would secure my
grocery cart next to my vehicle while I load/unload my two toddlers and groceries. Surprisingly, we couldn't find a
product that effectively solved this problem. That was when we knew we had to do something about this extremely
dangerous problem so that it would not happen again to me or any other guardian.
Cart-Stopper™ Unveiled
After months of trial and error with numerous prototypes, the Cart-Stopper™ evolved into a simple and effective
device that offers a new level of safety in grocery store parking lots. Friends and family members with little ones
welcomed the 'second pair of hands' a Cart-Stopper™ offers while loading/unloading valuables. Grandparents
were impressed with the ability to apply and remove Cart-Stopper™ single handedly. And fellow shoppers would
walk over and inquire about the compact device that was securing a full cart of groceries next to my car.
The launch of My Lil' Monkeys, LLC has been a family venture. Whenever we are in a grocery store parking lot, my
little boys love finding a mom, dad or grandparent in need of a Cart-Stopper™. One day my two sons and I
witnessed the exact 'run-away' cart happen to an unaware mother as she was loading the first of two toddlers into
her mini-van. River, my eldest son, said, "Look mommy! She needs a Cart-Stopper™!" So we went back to our
truck, grabbed a Cart-Stopper™ and took it over to that family. While walking away with my two sons, River said,
"Mama, we saved the day!"
